1. Why I Chose DIY
Many conventional cleaners contain ingredients that can pollute water sources over time. Buying these products also generates packaging waste.
To be more eco-friendly, I started trying DIY cleaning products to avoid chemicals and reduce waste.
2. My DIY Cleaning Recipes
Based on online research and my own testing, I came up with some simple yet effective DIY cleaning recipes:
Laundry Soap: Coconut oil, baking soda, salt, citric acid, aloe vera gel
All-Purpose Cleaner: Lemons, white vinegar, borax
Hand Soap: Coconut oil, baking soda, tea tree oil, salt, peppermint oil
Dish Soap: Lemons, white vinegar, olive oil
Stain Remover: White vinegar, baking soda
Air Freshener: Cold water, lemon juice, essential oils
These use natural ingredients that are safe for people and the planet, and work well.
3. My DIY Process
Making DIY cleaners is straightforward:
- Gather the needed ingredients
- Mix according to recipe proportions
- Pour the mixture into spray bottles
- Label with instructions
- Store in a cool, dry place and use as needed
Pair with some old rags for wiping and you’re ready to enjoy eco-friendly cleaning!
4. The Benefits of DIY
DIY cleaners are not only green and frugal, but rewarding to make.
You can get creative and customize products for your needs. It’s also a chance to teach kids about eco-awareness.
